Using Social Media to Create a Balance Between Sales and Brand

The 1980′s are remembered as being a time of business computer developments and the 1990′s are known for being a time of consumer technology.  If the new century is to be remembered for anything, it is the incredible advances in online communities and interpersonal communication tools like social media.

Social media is something that businesses can use in a big way, but rarely do they get it right.  Assigning a team to research and develop social media channels is not often a priority in this medium.  Using branding to get a corporate message out in a quality way is often overlooked.  But in today’s world, being able to use social media effectively is growing ever more important.

Social Media for Branding

As the old saying goes, “a dollar earned is a dollar lost.”  Companies know that when it comes to increasing revenues, a certain amount of investment is needed in a solid market branding strategy.  They are looking for the maximum return on their investment.  Social media is actually a superb way to earn maximum return with very little upfront capital, but it takes time and effort.

And remember, it’s always better to try something new then to sit around talking about it with no action plan.  Because social media is so low cost and easy to manage, an organization that is just thinking about using it should do so now to get on board.

SEO and Social Media

Once upon a time, using an SEO consultancy firm to build revenues resulted in spammy websites full of poorly written, keyword saturated content that has little appeal to consumers.  In fact, it had quite the opposite effect.

The focus of today’s marketing includes the use of social media to build relationships with consumers, not throw cheesy commercial content at them 24/7.  By using social media combined with smart keyword content written by skilled web copy writers, your business will soar.

Using Social Media for Sales

It goes without saying that social media should not be a place to fill up with sales pitches.  Instead, look at social media sites, like facebook and twitter, as a place to educate and interest others so that you can create future sales.  Social media is an effective way of building sales leads and earning a loyal customer base over time.   The best news is that social media is still in its beginning stages of greatness.  There’s still time to learn all that social media has to offer your business if you will take the time to get involved and participate in this growing trend.

This is a great article!! Thanks for sharing. My goal is to bring social media awareness and benefits to my local business networking group! Many of them could benefit from the use of social media, but many of them don’t have a clue what it is!!

I know exactly what you mean Tina! I feel the same way. I also feel that they don’t really want to take the time to add another “thing” to their plate. Keep doing what you are doing and the word will spread. :-)
