Should You Be In Business?

If you have been in business for quite some time and you find yourself constantly stuck at the same point you need to really do some searching to figure out why.  What is it that you are doing that is preventing you from moving forward.  As we start out in our business we try our best to keep the cost as low as possible.  You may be a working mom or a stay at home mom and so you probably do not have tons of money set aside to start your business.  I completely understand.  In fact my business started because I needed a way to make extra income but I didn’t want to take on another physical job and someone telling me what to do, where I should be, and where I cannot go.  But for some of you your business is your passion and you are hoping (like me) that this business can be the THING that gives you financial freedom and the ability to have the flexibility to live the life of your dreams.  Well this is certainly possible because our mentors have done it, but it’s not happening for you, WHY????

I’m pretty sure I can tell you why you are not moving forward in your business.  It’s because you are WASTING valuable time on things that YOU DON’T NEED TO DO!  I work with clients all the time that go through branding coaching programs or internet marketing programs and they are taught various things such as article marketing, keyword research, and SEO just to name some things.  They are taught about designing logos, and websites and all sorts of things that are indeed important and when you take proper action (following the steps they show you) on these things can and will help you connect with your target audience (do you know who that is).  But there is a problem.

The Problem:

The problem occurs with implementation.  Some of you will implement right away and learn every single thing you can do about each strategy and get going.  Some of you will sit back create a plan and realize this is just way TOO MUCH for me to do and begin to become overwhelm.  So what happens next (with either scenario) you end up spending time all day on the internet but you haven’t made any money.  If you are a life coach what does it benefit you to spend hours learning how to do all these things when you could be spending the time on what you do best and that is coaching.  Same thing for authors, you should spend the majority of your time cranking out e-books, special reports and possibly blog posts that really resonate with your audience because that is what you love to do.  Well how do you get the rest done?

The Solution:

You outsource!!!  I can’t tell you how many times I have had clients call me up to ask me to fix something for them in their wordpress site or on their autoresponder because they spent hours trying to fix it themselves.  That is WASTED time spent on non-income producing activity.  Ask yourself how much money would you have made if you spent that time coaching with a client verses figuring out how to add a “buy now” button to your page.  Or let’s think about this.  Let’s say you have a $97 product that needs to be added to your shopping cart and you outsourced for $50.  It only took about 1hr to get everything set up for you and now you have people purchasing your product while you are in a coaching session with a paid client.  How much was the $50 worth to you.  I’ll leave you with this as my mentor said on her call.  If you cannot figure it out in an hour (to be honest in 25 minutes) then you need to hire someone to do it for you.  You are doing your customers and clients a disservice by spending all your efforts figuring this out when you have valuable information to them.  Outsourcing is not a bad word and should be looked at as creating a partnership or creating an opportunity for someone else to start their own business.

Should You Be In Business:

With that said you now figure out if outsourcing is feasible for you.  People choose not to outsource because of the cost.  They don’t have that money to spend but there are plenty of places to go to outsource or even ways to come up with ideas to outsource for very little money. So your first step right now should be to find out how I can help you.  To do that please email me using our contact form on the contact us page so we can begin to talk about your needs.  As much as I would love to be the one to help you in your business as I helped others my prices may not fit your budget needs and that is perfectly okay.  So if my prices do not fit in your budget you can go to websites like Elance and Guru to find people that fit within your budget (or fiverr).  Lastly if that doesn’t work place an ad on craigslist or even on your Facebook page that you are looking for interns or maybe go to your local high school and see if the students there need some volunteer hours in order to graduate (remember you get the level of service you pay for).

These are all ideas to help you move forward in your business and not get stuck on the day to day items that must get done.  In order to be successful you must implement.  Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you need to do it all by yourself.  Release control and be willing to delegate.  Every successful person has a team they don’t go at it alone. So finally my last thought I leave you with is if you cannot afford to spend the money to outsource the job to get it done or figure out a way to get it done nearly free, should you really be in business?
