“I almost lost it. I really did. It was almost time for me to freak out and I did it in a major way.”

Have those words or thoughts ever came out of your mouth or popped up in your head?
Being a working housewife can be very overwhelming at times, and boy did it catch up to me at one point. I don’t know exactly how long was feeling this way but I remember feeling almost non-existent. I know I’m alive, and I’m doing all that needs to be done to make my household work, maintain my job and keep my clients happy, but something was missing. Have you ever felt like that? I haven’t been working out, sleeping, cooking, and the list can goes on. It’s almost like my mind took a break but forgot to tell me. But I kept pushing through and getting things done to the best of my abilities so that no one will notice. Deep down I knew something was off and no matter how much I tried to “get it together” I was making things worst. For months I was simply going through the motions of being a wife, mom, and business women. Knowing things are slacking at the office, in my business and at home. But I just didn’t know how to get back on track.
Well one morning I was reminded of how bad things were. You see, I’m the one that keep track of events in our office (I do other things but for this example we’ll just talk about that). And because events are usually scheduled weeks in advance I often set reminders and notifications, as well as double check my calendar a week in advance just to make sure things go smoothly. Well this particular time I didn’t keep track of what was going on and there were no time for last minute fixes or saves to get out of this.
As I’m waiting for the bus (I rushed out the house this morning because I was running late) I checked my phone and saw a meeting for 8:30 am this morning. My heart stopped and I wanted to pass out. Usually this would be too bad but there were no bus insight and the time was really close to 8:30. We no longer have a car because hubby was in an accident and I had no cash on me to take a taxi. I called the office hoping someone came in early this morning, but no answer. I called a co-worker who lives nearby but she was on her way to meetings so she wouldn’t be in the office anytime soon. What was I going to do? I was almost in tears. I called back the office and a co-worker answered. I let him know what was going on and he assured me he would take care of things until I got there if anyone showed up. I finally got to work but there was no meeting. What Happened? I contacted the person that requested the room and was told the event was cancelled. I breathed a sigh of relief and tried to calm down. But I couldn’t help being disappointed in myself. It was time for me to figure out what’s going on with me and get my mind and body back in one spot so I can work efficiently and be useful to the company I work for, the clients I serve, my household, and most importantly me.
I have realize that from time to time we all struggle with staying on track and get thrown off a little bit, even a while. But what’s important is not to stay off track or continue to beat yourself up about it. Once you have noticed that something is wrong begin to do a “self-check’ and make sure you have all your tools in place. If I had done this when I first noticed things were going array I would not have been in the situation I was in. In fact I would have probably been able to enjoy my commute and not panic as I did. Remember we all get thrown off, but the difference between those who are successful and those who are not is successful people do not stay off, but do the things they need to do that kept them on track.
Stay uplifted and keep moving forward!!
