3 Tips on How to Use the New Facebook Timeline

I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working with a variety of people on getting their Facebook Timeline in order.  It’s amazing how one change can really send people in a whirlwind.  I have to admit it did the same for me, but what is really good about this timeline is that it helped me to think about what is the purpose of my timeline and how do I want it to function.  So to help you get your timeline together and in order I want to give you a few tips.

Facebook Timeline Tip:

  1. What is the purpose of your timeline? Now you need to evaluate what will be the purpose of my timeline.  It may be the same as before but it’s important that you know this so you know how to set it up.
  2. Does my cover image convey the correct message? Since facebook no longer allows us to have landing pages it’s important that you use your cover picture to send the correct message.  Your cover picture dictates the feel of your timeline so you want it to be unique as well.  Remember to keep in mind facebook guidelines when it comes to your cover photo.
  3. Are my apps useful?  Now that facebook has moved over to timelines it’s important that you use every feature wisely.  Instead of having custom pages facebook timelines now have apps (called tabs) right underneath your cover photo to the right.  You can have up to 3 tabs on the front row so be sure to use this space wisely.

These are just 3 quick tips that you can focus on to help you have a successful and functional facebook timeline page.  If you need help getting your facebook timeline ready please check out our Facebook Timeline package.
